Well thanks for the creative debate Mr Brown - much appreciated.
Tell you what - if you ever get to the point where you need to sit in the blocks you're so concerned about because all the other tickets have gone, I've give you the 2 quid!

ian, why are you obsesed with this?

at gay meadow it cost more to sit in certain areas, at other grounds it costs different prices to sit in different areas.

in the west stand the block that costs more is the middle one opposite the tunnel so is the 'better' view. the other blocks are in the east stand and nearer to the corporate stuff, i guess that some people are ok with it as there has been a big take up in all the blocks?

I know but at most other stadia you actually get a benefit from paying the extra money. From what I can see there is no benefit to be gained from paying the extra money and sitting in blocks 1 and 2.

Anyway its obvious that im not going to get a proper answer on this one, most likely because the club also know there is no real benefit so guess I will have to leave it there.

Question

Postby JudyD » Mon Mar 03, 2008 12:42 pm

I would just like to point out that there are 11 Blocks in the South & West stands, approx 4,800 seats, at £15 compared to 3 Blocks 1,2 & 16, approx 1,400 seats, at £18.

Reluctant to join in this particular thread.

However, I think it would be interesting to establish how many ex-Centre and Wakeman Stand ST holders moved over to the West Stand because of the price differential of £51 between Cat A and B seat STs.

I think this migration has been a major factor in diluting the atmosphere in the West Stand.

I have nothing against supporters who just want to sit silently through a match, but I do wonder if they would be happier in the 'library area' of Blocks 1 and 2 of the East Stand provided they were not having to pay extra for the privilege of so doing. As Blocks 1 and 2 are low occupancy, I don't think it would be a huge opportunity cost to the Club to offer this.

It would also help to reduce the icy stares at those of us West Standers who prefer to be more vocal in expressing our support for the team.

I hope the Club will take this into consideration when setting seat prices for next season.

I don't have a problem with the fact that Block 16 West Stand is classed as Cat A because it does offer the best view of the game.

Personally when we moved from the SEATED wakeman stand to the New Stadium we initially wanted to sit in the block 1/2 area of the stadium as we felt thiese were the best transition seats, however, when we realised that this would be more money with not much benefit we chose to move into the west stand.

At the GM we did not mind paying the more money for sitting in a seat, but at this new stadium price banding does seem wrong.

Also from what I see on the Matchdays the take up for these seats is not overley great, and I do think that a 1 price fits all (maybe apart from 16?).

This isn't taking sides by the way, however, Ian without all the bumff does have a point that could prehaps be considered for next season.

Cheers all and please rememeber that this is a public message board and everyone is entitled to thier oppinion. there is no need for such fighting!
