political canvassing in the West stand

Postby loggerheadsyesloggerheads » Sun Apr 18, 2010 12:05 pm

As Eon family club of the year and supporters of the "let's kick racism out of football" campaign do Shrewsbury Town condone the local candidate for the bnp distributing his literature in the West stand on Saturday(Lincoln City game)?

Is this a privilege that is awarded to all political parties or will the club be dis-associating themselves from the aforementioned party whose candidate is, I believe, a season-ticket holder at our club?

More to the point - was it done with the clubs knowledge?

I'm looking forward to the answer as well. Any times that it was happening and which candidate was it?

What a nice reply from a club employee, I assumed that your stewards were aware of what happens inside your ground are you telling us that they are oblivious to what is going on inside the ground?

Is the club actually going to respond to the original comments?

yes, it does say on the questions to the club that your questions will be put to the right person and it is hoped to get an answer within 7 days.

I must say that I feel let down by my club, I have waited two weeks for a reply, with the election being on Thursday it would appear that the club has a political bias.

I hope that I am wrong.

With regards to the BNP candidate distributing literature, at the Lincoln City game, I can confirm that as a club, we do not support any of the parties, represented at the forthcoming election, ahead of another. For the game prior to Lincoln City, versus Cheltenham Town, we had given permission for the local conservative party, to distribute their literature. We would have given permission to any candidate that wanted to, as long as they were not in breach of the safety requirements of the Stadium.

Many Thanks

So were the BNP actually given permission on that day? That is not clear from this response, to me at least. :?
