Forest game

Postby zenfootball » Sun Aug 06, 2017 12:44 pm

town play Forest in the The Carabao Cup , some of towns players looked a bit leggy towards the end of the Northampton game, this a stadium with a proud heritage of an era were a force in Europe. so town will face a tougher test on Tuesday, in the post match interview Hurst indicated he had played virtually his first team choice on that basis who he picks will depend on what is most important to him as we face a tough game against Wimbledon who are known for there battling qualities who will be eager for a win after drawing there first game. i hope the travelling fans witness an entertaining game.

the forest forum seem to think this will be a walkover ,it would be nice to prove them wrong whilst i know you can get some revenue from a cup run and it is nice to draw some big clubs, we don't have the biggest squad and what team gets picked depends on how much Hurst rates this cup.

there were a lot of positives to take from this game , towns fitness, the keeper made some good saves ,town played a championship team and had a lot of possession.
the first goal came from two defensive errors that lead to a penalty ,which came against the run of play .
in the second half town spent a lot of time in the forest half but in both half's town failed to create enough chances, we did not convert possession in to goals, the delivery from set pieces was very poor, the forest keeper looked wobbly but we did not work him enough . the commentators felt our keeper should have done better 2-0.
we got back in the game with a penalty that whalley struck poorly but there keeper made a mess of it 2-1 .for the last ten minutes town upped there game but they lacked any quality in the last third.
in many ways the problems in the last third replicated the Northampton game.if this continues it may indicate that town need another forward and someone who can take set pieces .
(Rodman wasted a free kick when he failed to clear the wall)

even the forest fans are saying we should have had two penalties ,so no wonder Hurst is not a happy bunny
