millwall game

Postby zenfootball » Mon Apr 03, 2017 7:10 pm

the hill got steeper as town now have to climb out of the relegation place again , we still can have hope as vale showed what one win can do ,Hurst has to support the team overcome the injustice of the last game and he could channel this in to us against the world .
we now play three home games we beat Millwall away can town repeat this? we lost the against the other teams Rochdale and Walsall , the games are running out ,this will be tough game ,Milwall use a mixture of physicality and skill they are not a team who give up ,so town just cant afford any more defensive blunders ,in the last game we had two chances early in the game we did not convert them to goals ,we cant afford to not be more clinical at this stage can town get back on track ,do the players have the inner resilience to find something do they have that something extra to give ? if they cant can Hurst bring it out of them ? if not this will be another defeat .

Millwall will go into a playoff spot on goal dif in place of Southend if they win tonight,so they will be up for it,lets hope our lot are up for it. too much chopping and changing with the team for me,i do not go along with players being tired, Dodds played every week for Port Vale so whats this all about not knowing were to play him.

in the first half town were dire , we are battling for survival and the first half the millwall keeper did not make a save , town looked clueless and there only strategy was kick and hope.town had two half chance morris cross were whalley managed to head over the bar and ladapo could not get the ball out of his feet and the moment was missed.
yet another moment of lamentable defending by our defense who could not cope with a bread and butter ball allowed the Millwall player to turn and shoot 0- 1 . in the first half rodman and whalley were poor. Deegan first touch and distribution was very poor

town managed to create more chances in the first five minutes of the second half than the whole of the first half , payne was free on goal and his feeble shoot was easily saved. whalley's cross went invitingly in the box but no one gambled ditto a grimmer cross , another cross was headed and went agonizingly wide . the flurry seem to run out of steam, unless he was injured i failed to understand Hurst's decision to sub Ladapo , whilst he was on the pitch he occupied the defenders and made a nuisance of himself in sharp contrast Payne was a virtual passenger who contributed virtually nothing the sum total of 90 minutes was a feeble shoot and he only managed to win one header !
when things are going wrong you cant help but wonder Roberts was only on a few minutes when he went off in clear discomfort holding his hamstring and went straight down the tunnel ,Humphrey came on but did not contribute much.
in a virtual repeat of the Bolton game Leutwiller came and failed miserably to deal with a corner and Millwall must have thought it was xmas . 0-2 a consolation goal did little to lift the mood as the team were booed off the pitch, town are running out of games and chances ,our brief recover seems over as the toxic combination of lack of clinical finishing and awful defending looks to be sending us back to league 2 football ,frustratingly town blew another chance to climb out of the relegation zone town will need a miracle to stay up do we deserve to stay up no! are we good enough to stay up the table does not lie.

the contrast between the teams was not one of town been out played by a brilliant team but more a case town losing the game, we lost it by having no creativity ,poor finishing Whalley had three good chances two were skied over the bar and goal was via a deflection, a defense who consistently dont close down for 90 minutes ,who are prone to switching off, still fail to track players for 90 minutes and whilst better are not winning header teams should not get free headers in and around your box., the Millwall keeper looked less than convincing and he did not make a save in the first half , he fumbled the ball but no player was on hand to poach the goal.
in contrast Millwall did the simple things well, they made very few mistakes, they did not need three touches to control the ball and most of the time the ball went to there own players. when town entered there half they were pressurized, closed down and given little time on the ball . such margins win or lose games.
getting relegated in his first league 1 team will not look good on Hurst CV so can he pull a rabbit out of his hat as town sleep walk back to league two and if he cant will he stick with us or leave?

hurst says the first goal was offside and the second our keeper got hurt by there forward , i assume they looked at a video i dont know about the first goal apart from town allowed him to turn on the edge of the area unchallenged , from were i was sitting the second looked as if leutwiller had not got near the ball and lost the flight of the ball because he could not get through our players before he was knocked in to.
