chesterfield game

Postby zenfootball » Wed Mar 08, 2017 8:35 am

Wallsall did town a favor in the week , town need to do what they failed to do against Coventry, we cant afford any more bad days at the office every game is crucial but if town could win depending on results we could get a bit more breathing room as , oldham play Bury , and port vale play swindon as four teams below us play each other two draws and a town win and we are three points clear of bury, a bury win and town lose and we go down to 19th that is how tight things are .
town badly need to be more consistent we cant afford to mess this up.

mixed feelings about this game on one hand we had a better performance , we looked dangerous going forward and we created chances , the midfield looked more solid morris had a very good game and for most of the game towns defense looked comfortable, town made the best possible start with an early goal, whalley shoot hit the post. Aristote fluffed a chance in front of goal, town had other half chances, we looked comfortable but unfortunately were unable to capitalize on that and score the vital second goal, with a few minutes to go before half time towns defense switched off and Chesterfield score.
this gave them an extra spring in there step and the last few minutes before half time dragged on.
town were a bit bitty but started to get back in the game , we created chances but a frustrating part of the game was some nice approach play was ruined by a poor last ball. ElAbd cause problems with a miss timed header that was scrambled away,Hurst went for attacking substitutions with Dodds and humphrys coming on, Humphrys had two chances he had a free header with towns best chance of the second half only to blow it by heading down and straight at the keeper, he had a good shoot well saved in the last few minutes chesterfield caused a few problems but it ended 1-1
two ways to look at a point away from home or we played a team low on confidence who were wobbly after town goal, we failed to beat a team with the worst home record in the league ,we have played two teams under us and only manged two out of a possible six points, only time will tell how much the lost four points will cost us !!
we now face the toughest of the three port vale who won today.
based on today's performance morris deserve's to keep his place.

football 101 when you are on top you score goals and kill off the game town did not do this and we got a draw.
