Peterborough game

Postby zenfootball » Sun Feb 12, 2017 8:06 pm

another game against a top ten team Peterborough have had a bit of hit and miss season ,they have lost three and won one of there last four games, there home form is slightly weaker at home , things are very tight if town can get points on there travels and win most of there home games then town are moving in the right direction .
towns form has improved but we are not scoring many goals we need to be more clinical in front of goal and see more of the players to get there scoring boots on, richards and Lapado seem to be developing a good relationships .

recent town's performances have been characterized by playing high up the park, today Peterborough made the brighter start as town struggled to get out of there own half or string any passes together, Peterborough looked dangerous they created a number of chances a combination of Leutwiler making three crucial saves and a goal post kept town in the game. it was 25 minutes before town created a chance , against the run of play humphrys scored from a penalty all credit to him for stepping forward and going for it, Whalley had a very good first half and created some problems, towns defense showed resilience and tenacity when under pressure .

ten minutes in to the second half and a very controversial red card resulted in Hymphrys been sent off , this decision had a major impact on the game as it turned to attack V defense , town showed some resolute spirit in defense from free play so it extremely disappointing to concede two soft goals from set pieces were Peterborough were given two free headers 2 -1.
Town players must be extremely tired after having to work so hard in defense .one area that needs to be worked on is game management just to slow the game down and hold up possession in the midfield would have taken some of the pressure of the defense .
the stats tell a story ;
Shoots on goal Peterborough 20 town 6
Corners Peterborough 9 town 0
possession Peterborough 57%

yes the red car had a huge impact on the game but we yet again failed to deal with two set pieces this resulted in two free headers and two goals
