Scunthorpe game

Postby zenfootball » Fri Feb 10, 2017 6:48 pm

we face a tough test against Scunthore they have a fortress at home with 9 wins ,5 draws and NO defeats ,Scunthorpe pride will be stinging after losing to southend on there travels ,this cost them the top spot , so two reason why this will be a challenge it also will give us an opportunity to benchmark how much the progress town have made under Hurst stacks up against a top team, our competitors have mixed opposition.

Bury v Swindon Town Gillingham v Port Vale Northampton Town v Chesterfield Oldham Athletic v Coventry City

If town could get a draw then that for me would be a result ,to keep the forward momentum we need at least a draw.

Scunthorpes 26 unbeaten home run comes to an end as town deservedly win , town continue to slowly pull clear of the relegation zone, every point is vital as Bury and Oldham are also improving .based on the commentary town sounded to have the better chances in a game were both teams played from end to end , the wingers had an impact on town forward momentum ,with roberts and lapado developing a good understanding a well worked goal separated the teams ,ogogo should have done better when he was free on goal, not surprisingly Scunthorpe threw everything at town in the last ten minutes ,Leutwiler made an outstanding save in the dying minutes not sure were the five minutes extra time came from in a nail biting few minutes ,town stood resolute and kept a clean sheet.
the only negative is that ogogo has picked up and injury and may miss the tuesday game.

What a result! It sounds like we have a squad Thatcher all playing football and as a team aware or what each should be doing. Compared to what we had been watching it has been a transformation. Well done to the lads who played.
