Coventry game

Postby zenfootball » Thu Aug 11, 2016 10:11 pm

both teams are chasing there first league win ,Coventry have home advantage last season towns away form saved us ,whilst it will take time for a team to gell the midfield seems to have started well ,town miss grimmer pace down the wings and whilst he is learning the game Ethan Jones has pace and plays with no fear. i wonder if MM will stick with playing the lone forward.Leitch-Smith, Dodds and Shaun Whalley are waiting on a fitness test.
the league come win will be a boost lets us hope town can now build on this performance

whilst town are trying to sign two forwards Coventry on the other hand are looking to sign two defenders,

Town struggled to get going in the first half ,whilst town managed to keep a clean sheet and the team worked hard, town struggled to retain the ball or put any sequence of passes with the it, it was 37 minutes before Ivan blasted a free kick over the ball, it fell to the youngest players Ethan Jones to make a solo run beating two defenders to make our first meaningful attack which lead to a corner.
Towns defense were to easily opened up, yet more difficulties in managing crosses and corners , Coventry had two free headers and six half chances , our keeper kept town in the game with a save with his legs , Town were second best Coventry had 59% of the possession and eight corners only poor finishing kept this 0-0 at half time .

MM changed the formation to match the Coventry line up ,town created more chances in the first ten minutes than the whole of the first half, the second half was a lot more even better distribution in the last third could have lead too more chances, towns defense continued to give a Jekyll and Hyde performance, Town deserve a lot of credit for there tenacity ,work rate and town do look a more physical team.

last season we had too many games were our midfield were just bypassed i know it is early but the midfield look the most effective unit in the team some work on the distribution could lead to more chances.

A Coventry player was stretchered off so i hope it is not to serious this gave town seven minutes playing ten men, Ivan hit the bar and mix up in the defense lead to a chance in front of goal for O Brien quick reflexes from the Coventry keeper stifled the chance .

things to celebrate we kept a clean sheet and we got a point
