on a very hot day England upset the form book to beat Norway;
however any neutrals watching this game will be wondering how they managed it, for 60 minutes it was virtually one way traffic for one period Norway had 68% of the possession, an England defenders suicidal back pass nearly resulted in a goal, Norway were virtually camped in England half they looked the stronger team in all areas of the park , the over the course of the game the England keeper made two crucial saves , as the score remained 0-0 at half time only last ditch defending and at times some very desperate defending kept them in the game .Norway should have been 2-0 up

Early in the second half Norway scored a soft goal and i feared the worst,60 minutes and England scored from a well taken header, this seemed to be a catalyst for England to start playing a more passing game and press the Norway team,when Lucy Bronze scored from a rocket shoot it appeared catch a deflection even then the Norway keeper got a hand to it but the the shoot was a scorcher. England were rather jittery as they stayed in front.

despite the result this not an impressive performance for too long in the game they were played off the park,what was a real concern was how Englands defense were so easily opened up by a mixture of diagonal passes and a well timed run for a Norway forward .
England now face the hosts Canada let us hope they make a better job of managing there nerves and play to there potential.

Beating the hosts in a world cup is always going to be tough, England made a dream start with early goals were they scored two goals in three minutes,Jodie taylor goal was pure class as she opened up the defense stayed calm and drilled the shoot away,England nearly went three up, the england keeper made a dogs breakfast of things by fumbling the ball which gifted Canada a goal .
England looked disjointed and struggled in the second half ,this was another game were the opponents had the majority of the possession.Well done England.

This is a massive result and the England ladies get to the semi finals of the world cup for the first time.We face defending world champions japan who showed they are very tricky and tough to beat as they beat Australia by one goal.This will be a very tough game England cannot allow Japan the amount of possession they have given other teams as this would be suicidal.
Germany reach the semi finals for the fifth time as they face USA

japan are very good on the ball and can undo defenses with there pass and go football,sitting back and giving them possession will only end one way,it will be interesting to see how the England manager deals with this.i expect Germany to roll over a useful USA team.

USA upset the form book to beat the top scoring Germany, It all looked rather ominous in the opening minutes as Germany hunted in packs and pressed the USA in to there own half, but the USA started to get in the game and had the best chances a good reflex save by the German keeper and the american forward bottling it on a one to one kept it goalless at half time.

Germany had a penalty the commentator was in a state of shock that not only failed to score but the shoot was off target, not much later the ref made a mistake and gave the USA a penalty , USA drilled there penalty home, as Germany tried to get back in the game a nice counter attack and clinical finishing finished this game off,which was a cue for 51,000 fans to celebrate.
whilst i was expecting Germany to win i am very happy they got stuffed.

i think it would be fair to say that England have exceed most fans expectations by getting to the semi final, they have shown true grit and i would hope won some more fans, the manager has shown some astute tactical awareness to beat stronger teams and motivate the players to be a real team.England have grown through this competition .
We lost too one of the best teams in the world with a 82% win ration and whilst we lost we more than held our own and manage to nullify a lot of Japans threat,

Rafferty made a basic defensive error which resulted in a soft penalty there was no need for the challenge as England had three defenders to handle things. one feature of this competition is how slow they are in taking penalties. Within a few minutes England had a penalty from an error by the ref a clinical finish evens the score ,
England were creating the better chances and the japans keeper had to make a few good saves,England also hit the woodwork twice.

There was three minutes of extra time and In the last minute Japan attacked A cross was intercepted by Bassett in one the of the most bizarre own goals her clearance resulted in an own goal, Bassett was stretching for the ball and it went in the corner of the goal, Bassett had to go for it otherwise two Japanese players could have been free. a few seconds later the ref blew for the end of the game.
i don't understand the mind set of trolls who are giving Bassett a hard time, clearly you know nothing about football shame on you. don't you think she is not already giving herself a hard time without you sticking the boot in.

Football can be a cruel game England played the better football , we had the better chances but lost and that is the margin between victory and defeat, at this level you don't get many chances and too win you have to put them away, after the bitter disappointment of this defeat can England rally themselves to face Germany.

Both teams are playing for pride, Germany will crowd England and hunt in packs they have looked a bit wobbly when they get turned the French team really rattled them but they have strength in depth, until the game starts we wont know how much physically and psychologically has the japanes game taken out of England.
England have got better through the tournament and have got to the semis for the first time and deserve a lot of praise, however if they could have got to the final i think they would have had a chance of a big upset , this may sound strange considering america are in the final but this is not the best american team.

Congratulations to the English ladies this result needs to be put in the context of the previous 20 meeting between these teams were there has been 2 draws and 18 defeats, in the build up to this tournament England had been less than convincing,Germany have reached five world cup semi finals they have won two of them they have won 8 European championships
in the first game France outplayed and outclassed England , we had wobbly moment in some of the other games but as we have progressed we have improved, in every game England have given 100%
The game against Germany was at times physical every ball was contested,whilst England did not have the quality of Germany they made up for it with work rate and determination .
England had a goal mouth clearance and the keeper made two saves to keep us in the game, in the last twenty minutes of the second half England looked the more dangerous team and created a number of chances, England had a penalty the German player Popp should have been booked as tried to put off our penalty player.

England finished third they ladies get a medal and we beat Germany from a penalty,throughout this tournament they have shown great spirit a real pride in wearing the England shirt, a great determination and desire to win and they showed joy and simple pleasure in playing football.

only time will tell was this a flash in the pan or is the start of an England breakthrough to the next level of been a consistent top team.

The over payed pampered England's men team who insulate themselves from fans who on many occasions don't look as if they could be bothered could learn a lot from the ladies team.

I wish japan had defended like this against England;
the normally rock like defense had a total meltdown and were in taters as America scored 4 goals in 16 minutes, i believe LLoyd ha-trick is the first in Womens world cup,her third goal came from a long shot from the half way line ,Japan had no answer to Americas power and pace.
to put this result in context Japan have only lost four games in 33 games and they had only let in 3 goals in 19 games.
japans first goal came an american error there second was due to an own goal just as Japan looked to be coming back in the game America scored there fifth.

I was hoping America would win after the japans manager derogatory comments about England so a large slice of humble pie on the way home to Japan
congratulations America.
